ABOUT MYSELF… I have always loved musical theatre. My parents took me to see the National Company of "MY FAIR LADY" at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles when I was a child. I remember when the curtains parted and the chorus started singing, I said to myself, "They get to sing, dance, act and travel!" THAT was the moment I was hooked. We bought the recorded score and I would sing all the songs and all the parts day and night for months afterwards.

Fast forward to high school - where I started following my dream to become a professional actor and make my living strictly as a performer. That dream has become a reality from the age of 16 up until now. I have starred in 12 shows on Broadway in New York City. Some of them include the role of "Hodel" in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (the revival with Zero Mostel), "Maggie" in OVER HERE (with John Travolta), and "Martha Jefferson" in 1776 (with George Hearn). I then expanded to Soaps with recurring roles on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS . Guest appearances followed on television, with regular roles on series and in films (most recently, FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS, opposite Johnny Depp and Benico del Toro).

I have worked internationally in 32 countries as well as every major Equity Theatre in Los Angeles (Mark Taper Forum, Ahamanson, Shubert, Pantages, etc.). I have also worked in recording studios as a "session singer" recording themes for movies and television shows, and I have a current solo C/D. Performing in Caberet has also been exciting for me and I have appeared in LA, NYC and throughout Japan.

This career has satisfied all my original dreams.

ABOUT THE CLASS…

"Broadway Kids" is a class for any young person who likes to sing or wants to explore musical theatre. It is open to anyone who can carry a tune or sing "Happy Birthday" well enough so that we can identify the song! The class is open to the newest beginner, as well as the seasoned young professional. I believe all levels can learn from each other.

The environment is constructive and nurturing, and we quickly become a group dedicated to "cheering each other on." The teaching is delivered in a respectful and constructive manner, and at a gradient that is appropriate for each student.

The activities of the class will be many and varied. The key to the class will be in learning how to Act The Song. There are specific and easily applied Techniques to do this. There will be a Live Piano Accompanist at all sessions, who will assist me in selecting the perfect music material for each person.

The students also have option to bring in the songs they want to work on....and the first class will include everyone bringing in and singing a song of their choice for the class (by way of introduction). All songs throughout the class sessions will be critiqued, and suggestions made for improvement, by me ....not the students. The idea is to have the song be a full and unique expression for that particular young person. How To Audition is addressed and we also do Musical Improvisation....which is a lot of fun and really encourages the imagination and develops confidence. Every class will include a short Basic Movement section is order to explore this aspect of musical theatre as well. The class will be a lot of fun and the end of six weeks a Performance for family and friends will be held for all the students to be able to apply what they have learned.

WHY I TEACH…

I really love helping others to discover their talents and fulfill their dreams in musical theatre as I have.

I started teaching and sharing my experiences to children and teens when I was 18. I worked for the Department of Parks in San Francisco in the summers teaching Acting, Music, Dance and Art (I have a passion for drawing and painting as well). I have continued to teach and coach privately for the last 20 years on the East and West Coasts and in Europe. I have worked with students of all ages, backgrounds and experience.

I believe that each young person is unique and has unique qualities....my job is help bring this out. Each student is worked with differently depending on their experience and goals.

I am so excited about "BROADWAY KIDS"....it is sure to be a wonderful experience.
